Tala grew up in Perth, WA adjacent to the Indian Ocean where she fell in love with the natural environment. Her passion for the ocean was only strengthened through snorkelling as a child and SCUBA diving as an adult. She commenced her undergraduate degree at UWA in marine science, where she became interested in fisheries management. Now she volunteers with the Sea Around Us - Indian Ocean as a research assistant.
