PhD title: The effects of protection of fish communities at remote locations around the world
I was born in Brittany, France, and I have always enjoyed learning and observing all living critters, but my longest and strongest passion has always been the marine environment and its species. Based on this interest, I developed a keen desire to study the best ways to protect them. I completed my Bachelor in Biology at the University of Rennes in Brittany in 2021. I then received my MSc in Marine and Fisheries Management and Aquaculture from the University Pascale Paoli in Corsica in 2023. My first work experience in the marine field was studying the life traits of the critically endangered European eel. In 2023, I undertook pelagic ecosystem assessments and long-term monitoring of two newly established Marine Protected Areas in Western Australia, which was the subject of my Master's thesis during a foreign study period at the Marine Futures Lab at the University of Western Australia. Thereafter, I worked in the Marine Futures Lab looking at a variety of fish communities, from the Antarctica Peninsula to the remote islands of Pitcairn in the Pacific Ocean, as well as conducting fieldwork in two regions of Western Australia, Shark Bay and the Ningaloo reef. In early 2024 I started my PhD on “The effects of protection of fish communities at remote locations around the world” under the supervision of Prof Jessica Meeuwig, Wen Family Chair in Conservation and Director of the Marine Futures Lab, and Prof Dirk Zeller, Director of the Sea Around Us – Indian Ocean.
